“ABC’s of Czech and Slovak History for a Czech/Slovak-American Genealogist”
Will that be another boring survey of generally known data from the history of Czechia and Slovakia?….
NO! this presentation will focus on the key events and phenomena important namely from the point of view of genealogy. How they influence the lives of common people in The Heart of Europe, our Czech/Slovak ancestors. And what is good for a foreigner to be aware of when performing ancestry research there.
Miroslav Koudelka (1953) studied History, Czech and English at Palacký University in Olomouc, Czechia (master’s level) and holds a higher degree in Czechoslovak History from Komenský University in Bratislava, Slovakia. Originally a teacher, since 1992 a professional genealogist. Has performed hundreds of Czech/Slovak/German ancestry research projects for individuals from the US and other countries of four continents. Works as a tour guide and interpreter on clients’ personalized ancestral trips to Czechia and Central Europe. Frequent speaker at genealogical conferences, author and translator of publications in the US, Czechia and Slovakia. For the Czechoslovak Genealogical Society International he translated to English the book History of Czechs in America by Jan Habenicht. Regional Representative of the CGSI for the Czech Republic and a charter member of the Texas Czech Genealogical Society. Enthusiastic mushroom hunter and soccer spectator. Living in Olomouc, Czechia, widowed, daughter Hana.
