SPEAKER: Toni Perrone “Journey to America” Zoom Meeting Oct 3, 2021 at 1:45pm

For our Oct 3, 2021, Sunday “get-together”, since we can’t meet face-to-face, we are going to use the Zoom Virtual online meeting. Zoom Link will be emailed the Wed prior to the meeting.

This talk is really two stories that captures the experience many of our immigrant family members likely had during this time period. This talk is derived from an interview Ms. Perrone did with two Italian immigrants – her grandfather and a 2nd cousin.  One Emigrated from Sicily and arrived in Ellis Island, the other Emigrated from Sicily and arrived at the port in New Orleans. The lecture covers the comparison of both voyages and the difference at the ports here in the USA.

Annette “Toni” Perrone has been speaking to genealogical societies nationally since 1981. She was a speaker at the International German Genealogy Conference in 2017 in Minneapolis. She has also spoken in Utah and Illinois, as well as California.

Toni’s experience stems from researching her German and Italian ancestry, as well as 39 years of volunteering at the Immigrant Library in Burbank, California. She is the co-founder of the Immigrant Genealogical Society and of the Temecula Valley Genealogical Society. She served as Vice President and Program chairperson of the Temecula Valley Genealogical Society for
two years and was an advisor to the board of directors. She has a life membership there.

She is the current president of the Pommern Interest Group of the Immigrant Genealogical Society. She is also a member of the San Diego Genealogical Council and a leadership member of the International German Genealogical Partnership.
